More than 600 square metres of Late Renaissance frescos have been uncovered at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, hidden beneath later layers of paint. Restorers use modern techniques to reveal and preserve these 16th-century works, including a scene from Homer’s Odyssey.
Archival research and comparisons with works in Genoa also point to the painter Nicolosio Granelo, while revealing the close artistic links between Monaco, the Grimaldi family and the Genoese Renaissance.
