🇺🇸 America’s air traffic system is still running on 1990s gear and Duffy wants extra $30B in the budget to replace it
Last week, an old communications line died in Philadelphia, a backup fiber got cut, and Northeast flights piled up on the ground.
He wants $10B for new software and comms, $10B for towers, and $10B for airports, on top of the $12.5B already passed last year.
That would take the whole job to $42.5B.
The country still moves planes on copper and old code.
One snapped wire can freeze a coast, and travelers sit on the tarmac while Washington argues about a system everyone already knows is tired.
Duffy is trying to replace the nervous system before the next Monday does it for him. Congress still has to write the check.
