The Black Aces’ Super Hornets off the USS Abraham Lincoln dropped 173 small precision bombs, dozens of 2,000-pounders and bunker-busting glide bombs, plus 39 air-to-air missiles likely fired at drones, roughly $43.6 million worth.
One jet even wears a broken submarine kill mark labeled “Sub Buster.”
That’s one of four strike squadrons on one carrier, whose crew is only now heading home from a deployment that started last year, so the real bill for this war is still buried in numbers the Pentagon hasn’t released, and the taxpayers footing it deserve the full count.
