Journalist duped after months of communicating with an Iranian operative

Australian journalist Sharri Markson told Katie Pavlich she unknowingly spent months communicating with an alleged Iranian intelligence operative after hackers infiltrated the X account of a trusted former Trump administration contact. Markson said the operation, which investigators linked to the Iranian-linked cyber group known as “Charming Kitten,” appeared to target her because of her reporting on Israel, antisemitism, Iran and the Oct. 7 terror attacks.

“Katie Pavlich Tonight” offers a conservative take on the day’s events while welcoming all viewpoints. The goal: cutting through left-right bias in pursuit of plain facts and honest analysis. Weeknights at 10p/9C.

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 AI money is piling into data centers in the Gulf and next to Ethiopia’s new dam… and those are the first targets in a war. Neil Howe says the tech world talks about models and theory while forgetting that AI rests on a huge physical energy infrastructure. Cut the undersea cables, send in the drones, take out a few grids, and the whole thing comes down: “Those things are the first to go in a conflict. We have not thought this through.” With Iranian officials already threatening Gulf cables and data centers if the war restarts, the AI economy may be the softest target in the region. @HoweGeneration

Neil Howe says Annapolis and West Point are teaching new recruits to navigate with sextants and astrolabes again, because the military expects GPS to go down.

Most people never ask what happens if the power goes out nationwide for two or three months:

“We are not prepared for this.”

Two days of fuel against a months long blackout means the country’s defenses could go dark right when they’re needed most.
