“I think if Trump wants to go for a third round and he wants to go much, much larger than he did in the previous two, I do think that an Israeli component in that war is going to be important.”

Trita Parsi says Tehran has lost faith in Islamabad as a neutral go between, with Pakistan even closing border checkpoints, while Iran doesn’t see Qatar or Oman the same way:
“They’ve ended up becoming, sending messages from the US side to the Iranian side.
So essentially, they’re working for the Americans rather than being mediators.”
Losing a mediator this close to a possible third round leaves fewer doors open when the shooting starts.
