🇷🇺 Moscow is building balloons like the ones from 1941 for its oil plants because the drones keep getting through

The video shows a factory turning out the first of them for refineries and other sites, meant to snag aircraft the way cable lines once stopped German bombers.

A balloon line is cheap. A burned refinery is definitely not!

An old answer to a new problem, and the fact that they are building them says the new one is still winning.

The United States has removed its B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford in the UK, one week after several men were arrested near the base on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.

A dozen B-1 bombers had been stationed at RAF Fairford and had been used in U.S. strikes on Iran. The Pentagon said all the bombers are now in the United States.

The move comes after UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Britain had “strong indications” of Iranian involvement in a suspected plot targeting the base. Iran has rejected the accusation as baseless.

A ballistic backpack has been developed for students in Ankara, designed to give children something they could use as a shield during a school attack.

Its developers say it can protect against rounds including 9mm, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum and even 5.56mm.

There is obviously some impressive engineering here.

But I keep coming back to the fact that we’re engineering armor into children’s school bags in the first place.

Books. Lunch. Pencil case. And ballistic protection.

The more I think abut it the worse the idea gets

🇮🇳 India closed the Asian Games in 4th, with 85 medals and 21 of them gold

Neeru Dhanda, a double gold medallist, led the team into the ceremony in Aichi-Nagoya. The rest of the haul was 27 silver and 37 bronze.

The next Games are in Doha in 2030.

China, Japan, and South Korea still sit above that line, and India is now close enough that the gap is the story.
