Secret Service members, student scholarship recipients, reporters, and hotel staff were honored at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Friday.
Friday’s dinner was held at the Waldorf Astoria instead of the Washington Hilton, roughly two miles up the road, with officials saying that security will be tightened.
The WHCD in April was interrupted by an alleged gunman, 31-year-old Cole Allen of California, running through a security screening area with guns and knives in an attempt to assassinate President Trump and other White House officials in attendance.
President Donald Trump appeared at the rescheduled dinner, with the message that “we do not yield to political violence.”
“As I said three months ago, the show must go on,” Trump said.
