Axios, citing two sources familiar with the decision, reports that President Donald J. Trump directed the U.S. military not to conduct strikes against Iran on Friday, ending 13 consecutive nights of U.S. attacks. According to the report, the decision came as Oman continued talks with Iran on a potential agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. While the U.S. military remains prepared to resume or escalate operations on short notice, Trump reportedly believes pursuing a diplomatic agreement is currently the “smarter strategy.”

India’s ‘Cockroach’ protests end as government gives in to key demands

India’s youth-led Cockroach Janta Party has called off its protests after the government accepted its key demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement began in response to exam paper leaks that affected millions of students, but quickly grew into a broader expression of frustration over opportunities and governance. Celebrating what they describe as a victory for democracy, activists are ending their demonstrations, at least for now. Does this mark the end of the movement, or the beginning of a new political force in India?
