Transnational Takedowns:
The federal response to organized crime has intensified through a sweeping Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative designed to eradicate cartels, foreign street gangs, and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). Combining the investigative power of the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), these operations leverage a whole-of-government framework to disrupt illicit networks. [1, 2, 3]
Key Enforcement Actions and Impacts

Dismantling Transnational Threat Networks: Massive enforcement surges have heavily squeezed operations for formidable syndicates like the Sinaloa Cartel and the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA). [4, 5, 6, 7]
Massive Seizure Figures: Aggressive multi-jurisdictional crackdowns have removed tens of millions of dollars worth of illicit assets from circulation, yielding thousands of pounds of narcotics (including fentanyl and meth) and hundreds of illegal “crime guns”. [2, 8, 9, 10]
Interagency Collaboration: Specialized task forces align federal personnel with state and local police to execute synchronized raids across key transit hubs and sanctuary cities. [2, 11]

Notable Successes

Tren de Aragua Crackdown: A nationwide sweep spearheaded by Joint Task Force Vulcan successfully indicted over 25 TdA members and dismantled extensive violent drug and firearms distribution networks. [12, 13]
Operation Spring Cleaning: A highly targeted 3-month regional enforcement surge in the Carolinas yielded 56 federal indictments, the capture of 157 fugitives, and the seizure of 254+ kilograms of drugs alongside 110 firearms. [9, 14]
Operation Turf War: In June 2026, an aggressive 95-day crime-fighting surge was initiated to target violent offenders, disrupt narcotics networks, and freeze the financial assets funding violent criminal cells. [15]
