Death-Row Inmate Christa Pike Still ALIVE After 2 Botched Lethal Injections


A Tennessee murderer who would have been the first woman the state put to death in 200 years managed to survive the execution attempt — a stunning turn of events in the saga of the inmate who brutally killed a friend in 1995, when they were teens.

Christa Pike, 50, is still alive Thursday after receiving two doses of lethal injections after not one, but two botched lethal injections Wednesday night in Tennessee.

Pike, her attorneys — two of whom confirmed Thursday afternoon that she is still alive more than 12 hours after the shocking failure — and a band of supporters had petitioned for a stay of her execution that went all the way up to the Supreme Court at the last minute.

The murderess argued she had blown veins that would be difficult for the executioner to access, making her death extraordinarily excruciating.

BIG | 🇷🇺🇪🇪‼️‼️ Russia has stopped a Western-owned commercial vessel in the Baltic Sea in what Estonian authorities describe as the first such incident linked to retaliation over sanctions targeting Moscow’s shadow fleet. The Cyprus-flagged cargo ship Västerbotten departed Sweden on September 29 and was due to arrive in Estonia on October 1. After entering Russian territorial waters, it was stopped and ordered to anchor in the Gulf of Finland. Russian border guards inspected the vessel for several hours before allowing it to continue toward Estonia. The vessel’s eventual release kept the incident from developing into a larger confrontation, but the detention adds a new maritime dimension

There are new revelations about how authorities handled an alleged gang rape at Cornell University in 2024. New reporting out today finds Cornell police left out key information in a statement given to local law enforcement. That includes Jane Doe’s statement, “I can say with 100 percent confidence I was raped.” Amna Nawaz discussed more with Sharon Otterman of The New York Times.
