New York Governor Kathy Hochul has removed the DA in the Cornell rape allegation case, and has appointed a special prosecutor to oversee the investigation into a woman’s allegations that she was gang raped at a fraternity house back in 2024. This, as the University has agreed to an independent probe into how it handled those allegations, in which no one was charged, the Tompkins County DA revealing that while he found the allegations “morally disturbing,” the facts at the time did not support prosecution. Pentagon is sending more than 4,000 Marines and sailors aboard three warships to the Middle East.
The USS Makin Island, an amphibious assault ship was spotted leaving San Diego on monday, likely headed toward the Middle East. USS Anchorage and USS John P. Murtha also left San Diego the same day.
The 3 ships are carrying the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, a force of about 2,200 Marines and sailors.
The deployment could give the US more options for a possible ground operation against Iran, although it does not confirm that an invasion is planned.
Inside the mobile laboratory in Butembo, an Ebola hot spot in eastern Congo, the hum of fans nearly drowned out team manager Michel Ngimba’s voice.
