🇸🇦🇾🇪 Satellite heat data reportedly shows a fire burning at a Saudi oil processing plant on the edge of Ghawar, the largest oil field on earth, with the Houthis the suspected cause
NASA’s fire-detection satellites picked up a heat signature above 70 units at a gas-oil separation plant east of the Hawiyah gas complex about an hour ago, while identical plants nearby read under one, which open-source trackers say points to an uncontained fire.
A separation plant is where crude comes out of the ground mixed with gas and water and gets split so it can be shipped, so a fire there stops oil from moving even if the field underneath is untouched.
Ghawar alone pumps around 4 million barrels a day, and with Brent already at $115 on the Iran blockade, the market opens in a few hours on a question nobody has answered: how much of that is offline.
