According to Reuters, the U.S. is pressing Canada for further concessions in talks over steel tariffs of up to 50% and 25% duties on autos. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said negotiations had picked up slightly and Washington had shifted closer to Ottawa’s position. The two countries are working toward a deal to ease the tariffs, possibly before the November 3 midterm elections.

The company is offering voluntary buyouts to workers in the U.S., Canada, India and the UK, all the way up to vice president level. That’s about 27% of its entire workforce of 223,000. Meanwhile, its spending on AI data centers is expected to top $50 BILLION in a single quarter, up from $34.9 billion a year ago. The servers are getting the raise, the humans are getting the buyout. 🇩🇪 A car plowed into a group of people near Hanover, Germany, late last night, and police had to open fire to stop it. It happened just before midnight in the small town of Neustadt am Rübenberge. 4 to 5 people were hurt, some seriously, but none of them are in life-threatening condition. By pure luck, officers were running a traffic check nearby, saw it happen and shot at the BMW. Whoever was inside still got away on foot, and police don’t even know yet how many attackers there were.
