Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States is urging an international effort to dismantle the Houthis as an armed force. Reema Bandar Al-Saud made the call following the Oct. 10 missile attack on Riyadh’s airport, which she said killed 13 people. Her remarks appeared in an op-ed published by The New York Times.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that attempts to exclude Russia from the global gas market would have “serious consequences”, particularly through higher costs for consumers.
Speaking at the 8th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum hosted by Russia, Putin highlighted the potential impact of restricting Russia’s role in global energy markets. He also addressed Russia’s cooperation with the United States.

Israelis voted in their highest numbers for more than half a century in the country’s first election since the October 2023 Hamas attack, effectively a referendum on the war-dominated rule of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Turnout stood at 31.5% as of 12 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the central election committee, the highest level at this stage in the process since 1973 — a highly charged election that followed the Yom Kippur war with Egypt and Syria. Voting will stop at 10 p.m., when the first exit polls will be published.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva clinched victory out of thin air in Brazil’s weekend election, spurring his challenger to deny the results and the United States to demur from commenting on them.
Lula won reelection in the results published overnight Monday, claiming 51.7% of the vote against Flavio Bolsonaro’s 48.2% share. It was an unbelievable comeback given that Lula was trailing Bolsonaro by over 2 million votes in the first round of the election, which also included multiple other candidates running to the president’s right.
