Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is rallying allies as the pro-Iran Houthi rebels keep up strikes.

Members of Egypt’s parliament gave their approval to a request from President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi that the country back Saudi Arabia in its efforts to counter attacks carried out by the Houthis.

This decision has been made at a time when the public is increasingly worried that Egypt might find itself drawn into the conflict in Yemen, which has been going on for many years.

The top security body in Egypt had made a commitment to give Saudi Arabia all necessary and possible forms of support so that the Gulf kingdom can defend its security and stability, protect its resources and territorial integrity, and keep Islamic holy sites safe.

Egypt holds significant influence within the Arab world and is capable of mobilizing support.

Over the past three years of regional instability, Egypt has played a central role in mediation efforts, maintaining relations with all involved parties, including Iran and its allies.
