US special envoy Steve Witkoff is travelling to St. Petersburg to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Norway. A US official described the Oslo discussions as “constructive” and said Ukraine presented new proposals, with participants making “meaningful progress” towards a coordinated approach to Russia.

The talks covered security guarantees for Ukraine, post-war economic recovery and European security. The meeting comes as US President Donald Trump presses Kyiv to end the war and Zelenskiy seeks to repair strained ties with Washington.
