German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has called for increased pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin, insisting that Germany and Europe must continue to stand firmly with Ukraine.
Wadephul said Putin continued bombing Ukraine while Ukrainian officials were in Miami discussing a possible negotiated settlement with the United States. He described the civilian deaths of the previous week as a tragedy for humanity and peace.
“We don’t need less pressure; we need more pressure,” Wadephul said, arguing that Putin must show he is genuinely prepared to negotiate.
