U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says it redirected the 130th commercial vessel today while enforcing the naval blockade of Iranian ports, which it says remains fully in effect. CENTCOM says it resumed the blockade July 14 at the direction of President Donald J. Trump.
It says U.S. forces have disabled three ships that refused to comply, and that over the past 12 weeks it has destroyed 13 commercial vessels that were violating the blockade or were part of the Revolutionary Guard’s “multibillion dollar shadow network.” CENTCOM also says more than 70 humanitarian aid ships have been allowed through.
Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said U.S. forces “will swiftly act against any vessels trying to run the blockade.” The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 25 that officials said the U.S. has no intention of lifting it.
During the first naval blockade of Iran from April 13 to June 18th, CENTCOM redirected at least 140 compliant vessels, disabled at least 9 and allowed at least 50 ships to pass on humanitarian grounds.
Armenia drew 0-0 with Montenegro in Podgorica on Monday in the UEFA Nations League League C Group C2.
The match was the second meeting between the sides in the current Nations League campaign. Montenegro had defeated Armenia 3-2 in Yerevan in September.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock in Podgorica, with Armenia securing a point away from home.
The result leaves Montenegro and Armenia to continue their battle in Group C2, with further group-stage matches scheduled for November. UEFA lists Armenia’s next Nations League fixture as a home game against Cyprus on November 12, while Montenegro will host Latvia on the same day.
