The World Food Program says a funding gap is forcing it to cut the number of people it feeds from 1.6 million to 1.1 million. Community kitchens will drop from 250,000 hot meals a day to 150,000, and families in the hardest-to-reach areas will now eat EVERY OTHER day. The reason comes down to money, with the WFP receiving less than half its usual funding for Gaza this year. Markets in Gaza are stocked, but with more than 80% of people out of work, few can afford to buy anything. Cooking gas still isn’t allowed in, so children are sent out to collect plastic and cardboard to burn just to bake bread.
