Iran Crisis: Ships Sink In Hormuz, IRGC Makes Big Mine Claim As Singapore Fumes| US Forces Helpless?

According to the navy of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, a cargo vessel went down after colliding with a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

This incident marks the first occasion that Iran has announced the sinking of a ship due to a mine strike amid the ongoing conflict.

Shipping officials, meanwhile, reported that two cargo vessels registered in Singapore encountered unknown projectiles while navigating the Strait this week.

One of the ships ultimately sank, whereas the other managed to reach safely.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, all crew members aboard the first vessel were successfully evacuated, and no injuries occurred in either of the incidents.

Such attacks are unprovoked, unjustifiable, and a breach of international law, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said.

It was unclear, however, if the Singapore-flagged vessel that went down was indeed the same one that Iran claimed had hit a mine.

Limited information was provided by Iranian officials, particularly regarding the crew’s situation.

According to a statement from the Guard reported by state television, the vessel was navigating what they described as an illegal and dangerous path when it struck the mine.

The unidentified vessel, depicted leaning in the water and emitting a dense cloud of smoke, was reported to be transporting 2500 containers, as stated in the broadcast.

Iran has consistently issued warnings to vessels attempting to navigate the strait without its consent.

Meanwhile, the US military has been guiding ships through the strait, opting for a path that is closer to the coast of Oman.
