And this is where the strategy gets interesting.

Greece doesn’t need to match Turkey aircraft for aircraft or missile for missile. It can invest in capabilities that make every fighter it already operates more dangerous.

Put a long range weapon like JASSM-ER on a capable F-16V, and suddenly the aircraft doesn’t need to get anywhere near the target to create a serious threat.

Add the F-35 later, and you’re combining long range strike with stealth.

That is smart military planning in my view.

You don’t always win by having the biggest arsenal. Sometimes you win by building an arsenal that forces your opponent to think twice about where it puts its most important military infrastructure.

Greece is quietly building exactly that kind of leverage.
