(8) With hundreds of thousands of young French people taking part in nationwide protests, violence flaring and bonds suffering a market rout, investors are losing faith in the European Union’s second-largest economy to get a grip. For Europe, it’s a nightmare scenario.

Russia has revived an ambitious proposal to build a tunnel beneath the Bering Strait linking Siberia and Alaska, with Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev urging Elon Musk’s Boring Company to take part in the project.

Dmitriev says the so-called “Putin-Trump Tunnel” could cost under $8 billion and be completed within eight years, although critics question its practicality given the enormous infrastructure required on both sides and limited U.S.-Russia trade.
