Geraldo Rivera: Baffled behind Trump’s ‘fascination’ with Putin

On Monday’s “The Daily Take”: NewsNation’s Connell McShane and Geraldo Rivera discuss the diesel deal President Trump made with Russia. Rivera says he doesn’t understand why Trump is “giving everything he can” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who Rivera calls a thug, aggressor and invader. “Putin has no interest in settling this conflict [with Ukraine], at least not on President Trump’s terms,” Rivera says.

Correct. Lot of BS being spread on here that the US has cut intelligence. There is no evidence for that, and threat intel would be the last to go because it would endanger US diplomats in Ukraine. I realize there is widespread (and justifiable) anger, but cool-headedness and evidence-based analysis are more important than ever.

“This is not the first time that an S-400 launch has gone undetected by our partners’ intelligence services. There are certain technical nuances involved. We should not jump to conclusions,” he wrote.—  https://x.com/nexta_tv/status/2109735847591543198

“I will not be silenced!” Ilhan Omar HITS BACK after feds search her home

Federal agents searched the home of Rep. Ilhan Omar 22 days before an election she’s on the ballot in, and the Justice Department hasn’t said why it couldn’t wait. This video goes back to 2016 to show where the rule against timing a search around an election came from, and how few people are left to enforce it.

Since August 2022, the handbook federal prosecutors work from has said they may never time an action to affect an election. A warrant for a member of Congress’s property is supposed to be approved first by the Public Integrity Section, a small unit of lawyers inside the department. That unit had three dozen or so lawyers when Trump returned to the White House, and NPR reported this past May that it was down to 2 full-time attorneys. Months before the search, Vice President JD Vance said publicly that “we know” Omar committed immigration fraud, and asked, “How do you go after her?”

The rule covers any election and any candidate, and right now it’s still printed in the handbook while most of the people who enforced it are gone. No charges have been announced, and the department still hasn’t explained the timing. The sources for every fact are shown at the end of the video, so subscribe to follow this case as it keeps moving after the votes are counted.
