With global reserves drained and crude climbing back to wartime highs, economist and investment strategist Philip Pilkington warns everyone is scrambling to pull energy out before the fighting flares up again… and that rush is pushing markets into DANGEROUS territory.

Philip Pilkington is watching something unusual happen in France’s bond market.
Investors are now willing to lend to a substantial share of major French companies at lower interest rates than they demand from the French government itself.
According to figures discussed in the interview, nearly €250 billion in French investment-grade corporate bonds are trading at lower yields than comparable French government debt. That figure was roughly €12 billion previously.
For Pilkington, this is a warning that confidence in the French state is deteriorating.
France has a fragmented parliament, persistent budget problems and a political system in which meaningful spending cuts have become extraordinarily difficult.
And unlike Greece during the euro crisis, France is simply too big for an easy rescue.
That brings him to Christine Lagarde and the European Central Bank.
Pilkington suspects the ECB may eventually have to intervene to stabilize French borrowing costs, potentially forcing Europe into another major confrontation over debt, monetary policy and who pays for a rescue.
But his concern goes beyond finance.
Higher energy prices, economic pressure and growing public frustration are arriving at a moment when European politics is already deeply polarized.
Pilkington fears that governments facing serious unrest may respond by expanding their powers rather than resolving the underlying economic problems.
France could be where Europe’s financial and political crises finally collide.
