Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar is recovering well after suffering serious injuries in a cockpit attack aboard Flight FZ1073. The Ministry of External Affairs said Machchhar is responding positively after undergoing surgery and remains under medical care at a hospital in Abu Dhabi. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Indian Embassy in the UAE is in regular contact with Machchhar’s family, doctors, hospital and local authorities. The Indian pilot was attacked by his co-pilot during the September 30 flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv and was seriously injured. His actions during the incident helped enable the cockpit door to be opened and the aircraft to be brought under control.
