Her attorneys say the 50-year-old suffered severe injuries to her arms in the botched execution and remains handcuffed and shackled to her hospital bed.
Pike was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, whom prosecutors said she beat and stabbed to death before taking a piece of her skull.
The failed execution has now triggered a major constitutional fight over whether Tennessee can legally attempt to execute Pike again after what she’s endured.
