🇺🇸 So… where did the other 5 gold bars go?
When the FBI searched former CIA officer David Rush’s Virginia home in May, agents said they found “approximately” 303 gold bars in his basement.
Yesterday in court, prosecutors suddenly put the number at 298.
That’s 5 fewer bars.
At roughly $154,000 the government paid per bar, that’s about $770,000 worth of gold that has dropped off the official count, with no explanation reported for why the number changed.
Rush pleaded guilty to fraud involving more than $193 million, including a fake secret CIA program used to buy the gold and another scheme involving $145 million in luxury Florida real estate.
So we know how a former CIA officer ended up with hundreds of gold bars in his basement.
What we still don’t know is how 303 became 298.
5 gold bars don’t exactly slip behind the couch.
