The former CIA officer arrested after authorities discovered roughly $40 million worth of gold bars in his Virginia home pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to a single count of wire fraud, admitting he defrauded the U.S. government out of nearly $200 million for his personal benefit.
David Rush was previously described by prosecutors as a “master manipulator” who used his clandestine position to amass millions worth of gold bars and luxury watches -. though the government revealed in Tuesday’s hearing the extent of his alleged deception far exceeded what was previously known to the public.

🇺🇸 Tennessee will soon have to decide whether to try executing Christa Pike a second time.
The only Supreme Court ruling on that question is nearly 80 years old.
In 1947, the court let Louisiana put 17-year-old Willie Francis back in the electric chair after the first attempt failed, ruling that “accidents happen for which no man is to blame.”
He was executed months later.
Legal experts say Pike’s case is different, because her lawyers spent nearly 10 months warning the state that her unusually small veins would make the injection difficult.
A Columbia law professor argues a second attempt could amount to double jeopardy.
Gov. Bill Lee hasn’t responded to calls to commute her sentence and hasn’t spoken publicly about her since the day after the failed execution.
It’s also Tennessee’s second botched execution this year.
Tony Carruthers survived an attempt in May, and his family says it left him paralyzed on one side.
Lee gave him a 1-year reprieve, but no commutation.
Tennessee has now failed to execute 2 people in 5 months, and it still hasn’t said whether it plans to try again on either of them.

More than 110,000 people are listed in Ukraine as missing under special circumstances, Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Artur Dobroserdov said at an international conference on missing persons in Baku, Report informs.
“Today, according to the registry data, more than 110,000 people are listed as missing under special circumstances. This number includes both citizens of Ukraine and foreigners who were legally present in the country,” he said.
Dobroserdov noted that the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances has been operating since May 2023. It accumulates information that can be used to search for and establish the fates of the missing.
According to him, the registry also contains information about more than 15,000 unidentified bodies and remains. This data is constantly updated, including as bodies arrive from the front line and repatriations are carried out.
He noted that various state structures of Ukraine are involved in the search and identification of missing persons, while the commissioner’s institution coordinates their interaction, information exchange, and communication with the relatives of the missing.
Dobroserdov added that obtaining information about the fate of the civilian population in territories not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities remains one of the difficulties.
The Azerbaijani state news agency APA published a noteworthy report questioning Turkey’s trade with Israel, only to remove it from publication a few hours later.
🔺The report alleged that, despite Turkey’s statement claiming “zero trade with Israel,” 456 ship voyages were made from Turkish ports to Israel in 2025, and that ships owned by Turkish companies continued to sail to Israeli ports flying foreign flags such as those of Liberia, Panama, and Malta.
🔺The report was published shortly after reactions from Turkey regarding the headscarf debate in Azerbaijan and Aliyev’s defiant statement: “Do not meddle in our lifestyle; no one can interfere with our foreign policy.”
🔺APA did not explain why it removed the report.
