🇷🇺🇺🇸 Regarding the strange PLAGUE SCARE in Siberia, the U.S. GOVERNMENT has now taken the unusual step of issuing a formal HEALTH ALERT
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow says it is monitoring reports of suspected PNEUMONIC PLAGUE in Irkutsk after the death of a laboratory worker, along with quarantines and hospital closures.
It is also reminding Americans that Washington has very limited ability to help them inside Russia and urging U.S. citizens to leave the country.
But there’s an important contradiction here.
Russia says it has found no plague among the roughly 200 people who were quarantined, and WHO says Moscow has reported no confirmed plague cases in Irkutsk.
So we’re in a strange position.
The international response is getting more serious while the evidence for an actual plague outbreak is getting weaker.
What does this mean exactly?
It means the question has increasingly become what exactly killed a 28-year-old researcher at a plague institute, and why the initial response around her death was so extensive.
