🇮🇹🇲🇹 A routine ferry check in Sicily ended with officers finding 377 animals packed inside one car.
The driver was about to board a ferry to Malta with 300 tortoises and 77 parrots inside.
Vets said there wasn’t enough space or proper temperature control, leaving the animals under severe stress.
Most of the parrots are protected species and need special permits to be moved across borders.
The driver has now been referred to prosecutors, while all 377 animals were taken somewhere equipped to properly care for them.
300 tortoises alone is crazy. Then you get to the 77 parrots. 🤯
