Jair Bolsonaro, 71, is serving a 27-year sentence in a coup case his supporters call political persecution.
Flávio has promised Congress will pass an amnesty for him and the January 2023 protesters, and newly elected senator Bia Kicis vowed this weekend that they will free him.
The numbers are there. The right-leaning bloc in the Senate is close to the two-thirds needed to impeach the Supreme Court justices who jailed him, and the next president gets to appoint 4 new judges to the court.
Party leaders are already floating a Jair comeback in 2030.
The Supreme Court spent 4 years treating the Bolsonaro name as a closed case, and it may soon find out the voters never signed off on that.
