At least five hospitals have been shut and hundreds quarantined after a 28-year-old laboratory technician reportedly died of plague in the remote Siberian region of Irkutsk in Russia.The incident occurred at the Anti-Plague Research Institute in Shelekhov and the technician, identified as Darya Shipilova, reportedly contracted pneumonic plague, which is highly infectious and can be fatal if not treated early, from a broken test tube.

🇺🇸 Gold slipped again today to around $4,140 an ounce, and it’s down roughly 25% from its January peak near $5,600. The dollar is strong, U.S. government bond yields just hit their highest level in 24 years, and traders expect the Fed to raise interest rates by December. All of that makes gold, which doesn’t pay any interest, a lot less attractive. The one bit of relief came from weak U.S. jobs numbers last week, which made a rate hike this month less likely. Analysts say the next big move for gold will probably come from the Middle East, and with the year we’re having, that might not take long. Anyone who bought gold at the top in January is stuck holding the bag for now and getting a cra
