Min Jin Lee “One of the things that I’ve learned from having interviewed tens of thousands of people in my work and having done so much field work, is just how powerful individuals are. We’re actually so powerful, but we walk around as if we’re powerless. And that always surprises me. But I think that it’s because we experience heartbreaks and disappointments and betrayals and we walk around thinking like, ‘I can’t get that.’ But if you really take the long view in history…we’re really quite amazing in terms of what we can adapt to, how we can survive, and also the things that we can do when we work together. So, I’m kind of I’m very I don’t think it’s an optimism thing or a pessimism thing. I’m actually I can give you the data for it. People have survived very difficult things. So, if you could take that lesson away, that’d be amazing.”
