Headline: The kill zone was moved. Then the tanks rolled.
For two years a tank near the line was a drone target. This summer they rolled again, The Telegraph reported on Oct 3. First the logistics were hit, up to 160 km behind the front.
More than 200 strikes on Russian vehicles in May alone. Then soldiers’ phones were read. Messages saying a blast was close steered the artillery. Drone teams hunted crews until they pulled back and took the jammers with them.
Only then did infantry walk in, sometimes 19 km, across open ground and the Vovcha river. Tanks came last. They held what the infantry had taken and blunted Russian counterattacks, which rarely stop. In Oleksandrivka about 746 square km were retaken. The paper believes British Challenger 2s were among them. That is not confirmed.
This week the 475th Assault Regiment showed two tanks in Vilkhuvatka, Kharkiv. They crossed light mines, fired into buildings and reversed under FPV fire. The regiment says they came back intact. Not the armoured war of 2022. A kill zone that first had to be shifted.
