A significant number of institutions in Azerbaijan are working on artificial intelligence products and actively using them, Head of the Computer Incident Response Center of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Security Murad Balayev said at a panel discussion held as part of the ADEX international defense exhibition in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Defense Industry and Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) are among the top three.
“These institutions are leading in terms of the number of artificial intelligence applications. At the same time, if we look at the classification by country of origin, Azerbaijan ranks first in terms of the number. In other words, the number of locally developed products using artificial intelligence is increasing. When we look at the classification by purpose, we have divided them into two categories: specialized AI solutions and general-purpose AI solutions. Examples of specialized solutions include facial recognition systems, procurement and tender systems. The next stage, naturally, is risk identification,” he said.
He noted that the center is currently assessing regulatory and legal acts in this area in the region and around the world.
“Because artificial intelligence is a new field, the risks here are also new. If we are talking about the use of AI solutions from external vendors in the country, we look at different security issues in this regard. If we are talking about locally developed products, we already take into account security risks such as prompt injection and model inversion. As you know, we also conduct annual audits and penetration tests. This is mandatory, and we also carry out penetration testing and audits of AI-based models. This is a truly interesting process,” Balayev said.

PLANE TERROR: A flight full of Israelis became a scene of terror in the skies after an Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked the Indian captain inside the cockpit with a knife. The plane of FLYDUBI reportedly plunged about 20,000 feet as passengers were thrown from their seats, children screamed, and a fight for control of the aircraft unfolded behind the cockpit door.
MIRACLE IN THE SKY: Several Israeli passengers ran forward, entered the struggle, pulled the attacker out of the cockpit, fought him, and tied him up with aircraft headphone cables. An Israeli doctor helped stop the bleeding of the wounded captain, while another Israeli passenger reportedly helped stabilize the aircraft. Israeli officials are treating the incident as a suspected terror attack, while investigators examine whether the attacker acted alone and whether any foreign involvement existed.
IRAN QUESTION: At this stage, there is still no proof of an Iranian connection to the attempted attack, but that possibility is being examined. Meanwhile, Britain is pointing to strong signs of Iranian involvement in a separate incident near RAF Fairford, a base used by American forces and connected to operations against Iran.
TRUMP WARNING: President Donald Trump says there will be a response. The diplomatic channel between Washington and Tehran has not officially closed, but the space for agreement is shrinking. Iran sent a seven-day plan through Qatar for a ceasefire, gradual opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and renewed contacts, but the sides remain stuck over the nuclear issue, sanctions relief, frozen funds, and the order of steps.
IRAN UNDER PRESSURE: The Iranian regime is facing deep economic pressure. The rial is falling, protests are beginning to awaken again, and the Iranian street is moving after months of silence. Reports also claim that a massive blood bounty was promised in Iran to anyone who kills an American soldier, as Tehran searches for new pressure cards after losing much of its leverage in the Strait of Hormuz.
HORMUZ / REGIONAL ALLIANCE: The American military says it has almost complete control of the Strait of Hormuz, while a new regional alliance against Iran is beginning to take shape. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the Iranian delegation that came to the U.N. to leave American territory immediately after talks mediated by Qatar became stuck with almost no results.
GAZA / LEBANON: In Gaza, the IDF continued strikes against Hamas operatives planning attacks against Israeli forces. In Lebanon, the Golani Brigade is rotating out for a refresh after seven months of fighting, during which the IDF says it destroyed more than 900 Hezbollah infrastructures and weapons warehouses.
