With U.S. diesel at record highs, Republicans are pushing Trump to block exports before the November midterms, and he’s on board: “I’ve said let’s not send out the diesel.”

That hits Britain hard, because about 31% of its diesel imports come from the U.S. It leaned on America after cutting off Russia, which supplied 34% back in 2020.

And there isn’t much of a cushion. Britain’s stocks would cover only about 42 days of normal imports against 347 in Italy, after the country went from 18 refineries in the 1970s to just 4 today.

Trump may back off this time, but Britain still needs a permanent solution, more refining at home or far bigger reserves, before another country’s politics leaves it exposed again.

Philip Pilkington says the chain starts with diesel, then runs straight into bond yields, energy markets and private inventories nobody could properly measure.

“We are at the beginning of the crisis now.”

The scary part is that this may not have been the crisis.

It may have been the stress test.

Which leaves one very obvious question:

If CENTCOM is winning this shadow war at sea, why aren’t they showing the receipts?
