National security analyst Hal Kempfer joins LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall to discuss the U.S. allowing Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles amid its years-long war with Russia. In a post on X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy referenced his meeting with President Donald Trump at this week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“President Trump and I had a meeting where we discussed general matters. After that, our negotiating teams held a separate, long meeting. The agreement is as follows: we will brief the European side and discuss these details with them; the Americans will speak with the Russians; and in ten days, we will come back with views and results in some shape or form.

As for a trilateral Ukraine-U.S.-Russia meeting, the American side proposed preparing it and meeting at the technical level. We are waiting for the United States to propose a date. The United States proposed the United Arab Emirates as the venue for such a meeting.

There are concrete agreements regarding Patriot licenses. At our meeting, President Trump stressed that he had made his final decision: Ukraine will receive licenses to produce Patriot missiles.”

The United States military, under the direction of President Donald Trump, has conducted a significant and decisive series of airstrikes against key strategic targets within Iran, escalating tensions in the Middle East to their highest point in decades. The Pentagon confirmed the operation, describing it as a defensive action to deter future Iranian attacks on U.S. personnel and interests. The strikes targeted military facilities and command-and-control centers near Tehran and other locations, prompting immediate condemnation from Iran, which has vowed ‘crushing retaliation.’ Global leaders are calling for de-escalation as the international community braces for the fallout from this major military confrontation, with concerns mounting over a potential wider conflict and its impact on global oil markets and stability.
