🇸🇾🇮🇱 Syria’s al-Sharaa says Israel can’t keep using October 7 to justify its policy toward Syria. “It’s not appropriate that what happened on October 7 set Israeli policy for Syria. This is not logical. This brings more security threats. At the same time, we need to understand what happened in Gaza. More than 70,000 people have been killed there. If you want to protect your own security, you need to respect the security of others. Israel needs to change its policy because it’s creating problems around it in order to maintain its security. “We almost reached 90% of an agreement with Israel, but then Israel withdrew from the agreement for different reasons they put in place.

We are not saying that there will be lasting peace right now between Syria and Israel, but we need to protect the security and the rights of the Syrians, because before that, we can’t talk about peace.”

In the Middle East, the last 10% has a habit of taking decades.
