USAF C-17A Globemaster III AE144A (RCH898) has completed the 45th medical evacuation mission supporting Operation EPIC FURY, including the 15th to transport casualties to Joint Base Andrews for onward transfer to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Notably, there have now been more medical evacuation missions since the April 8 ceasefire was announced (24) than before it (21).
Tonight’s arrival was met by 2 Patient Evacuation Vehicles (PEVs), each capable of providing near-hospital care for up to 16 patients. Since these missions began, aircraft arriving at Joint Base Andrews have been met by at least:
• 12 Patient Evacuation Vehicles (PEVs)
• 5 Medical Ambulance Buses (MABs)
• 2 ambulances
As of today, official casualty figures stand at 13 killed in action (KIA) and 413 wounded in action (WIA). According to the Department of Defense, the vast majority of those wounded have since returned to duty.
