Key Stories

Ukraine cripples Russian fuel supplies amid frontline shifts — Ukrainian strikes destroyed over 60,000 tons of Russian ammunition and disabled a Moscow refinery until 2027, exacerbating fuel shortages that may paralyze Russian military operations. Reports suggest battlefield commanders warned of critical supply failures, while Putin’s spokesman claimed frontline advances despite setbacks.

U.S. pushes Israel on Gaza plan as regional diplomacy accelerates — The Trump administration reportedly pressured Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to accept a Gaza peace plan, with officials signaling openness to Palestinian Authority governance. Defense Minister Katz simultaneously vowed to maintain Israeli control in southern Lebanon, defying potential U.S. demands. These moves coincide with Iran’s diplomatic outreach following leadership changes.

Russia’s strategic failures reshape European military balance — A report from the Atlantic Council highlights how Putin’s invasion backfired, transforming Ukraine into a high-tech military power. Meanwhile, Lavrov floated potential negotiations but insisted on favorable terms, including control of occupied territories. Zelensky countered by calling for Putin’s prosecution and submitting new peace proposals.

Energy markets react to geopolitical tensions and infrastructure attacks — Brent crude fell below $75 amid concerns over reduced demand and Russia’s fuel production disruptions. Ukrainian strikes on energy facilities and drone attacks on refineries have compounded Russia’s economic vulnerabilities, with long-term implications for global supply chains.

South Ossetia leadership change signals deeper Kremlin integration — The resignation of South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev, followed by his Kremlin appointment, suggests accelerated Russian consolidation of breakaway regions. The move aligns with broader patterns of territorial claims echoing historical expansionist rhetoric.
