White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump’s signing ceremony for “one of the most significant pieces of housing affordability legislation in American history” at the Capitol on Wednesday would be “historic,” marking “another promise made, another promise kept.” But at the last minute, Trump canceled.
In a social media post, Trump said the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act was “of minor importance” compared to the SAVE America Act, voter ID legislation that even some Republicans view as a federal overreach of state elections.
