U.S. President Donald Trump signaled new action against left-wing groups following the assassination of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk, targeting the anti-fascist antifa movement as a “terrorist organization” on October 09, 2025. Trump said that he was “designating” the movement as a terrorist organization. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices,” Trump wrote. It was not clear what legal weight Trump’s proclamation carried. Antifa is a loosely organized ideological movement without a clear leadership structure or hierarchy, experts said.

When President Donald Trump sat down for an interview in March with New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan for their new book, he showed them a document arguing he was more powerful than some of the most feared and treacherous leaders in history — including Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao, and Hitler.

The anecdote is one of many striking scenes captured in Haberman and Swan’s new book, “Regime Change,” which was obtained by CNN ahead of its release on Tuesday. The book provides a blunt, behind-the-scenes portrait of the first 14 months of Trump’s second term, in which the president has wielded his power without constraint — often in a haphazard, improvisational manner — to persecute his perceived enemies, rattle global markets and wage war abroad.

New York’s primary elections are Tuesday. President Donald Trump, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, big names in big tech and the pro-Israel AIPAC lobby are all watching closely to see how the Empire State swings in critical races.

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved a war powers resolution passed earlier by the House, marking the first time that Congress has unified to rebuke President Donald Trump over the war against Iran.

The vote passed 50-48. Republican Senators Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Rand Paul of Kentucky voted yes. Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania voted against the resolution.

And a new bill aimed at increasing housing affordability now has the support of Democrats and Republicans and could go to President Trump’s desk as soon as this week. Its supporters have hailed it as the most significant bipartisan housing reform effort in decades.

The 21st century Road to Housing Act is aimed at lowering costs, creating new housing supply, and critically cutting red tape. The bill is a joint effort between Republican Sen. Tim Scott, a close ally of President Donald Trump, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a progressive and one-time Democratic presidential candidate.
