Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has publicly commented on the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding for the first time, saying he personally had reservations about the agreement but ultimately approved it after receiving assurances from senior Iranian officials.
In his statement, Khamenei stressed that approving the deal does not mean Iran agrees with the U.S. position and suggested that President Trump pursued the agreement out of necessity rather than strength. His remarks come as the 60-day negotiation period begins and questions remain about sanctions relief, the nuclear program, and implementation of the accord.
