U.S. President Donald Trump publicly slammed Israel’s latest strike on Beirut amid the peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran. During his remarks at the
G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, Trump was asked whether the newly announced Iran deal could survive renewed tensions in Lebanon. The US President said the agreement remains intact but described Hezbollah as a recurring problem in the region. He also expressed strong disapproval of Israel’s attack on Beirut, calling it “vicious” and “too much,” particularly given its timing just hours before the reported signing of the Iran agreement. Trump revealed that he conveyed his concerns directly to Israeli leaders and suggested that Syria should be allowed to handle Hezbollah instead.
