President Donald Trump will mark his 80th birthday with a UFC fight night at the White House as he says a deal will be signed Sunday to initiate talks with Iran to end the ongoing conflict over the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s nuclear weapons program.
We are learning more this weekend as troopers in Missouri announced that 11 skydivers and a pilot died in a plane crash in the town of Butler on Sunday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Butler Memorial Airport, about an hour south of Kansas City. Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Justin Ewing told The Associated Press the plane was taking people up to skydive. Sources told our partners at FOX4 that 11 of the victims were skydivers.
With a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran potentially closer than ever, questions now turn to the particulars of the agreement and what those are. President Donald Trump said in a social media post this weekend that a potential Iran deal was imminent. In the post President Trump said Iran has given up the prospects of obtaining a nuclear weapon, whether by developing one, purchasing it, or through other means.

Reporting across the past several days set the expectation that the United States and Iran would sign a “peace” agreement on Sunday, with President Donald Trump indicating the Strait of Hormuz would reopen on signature.
First, the vice president was named as the American signatory, and C-17 support aircraft were moved into position for a ceremony in Geneva.
No one is in Geneva to sign it.
The in-person ceremony today has fallen away, which leaves a virtual signing as the only remaining path, and Iran says it will not sign today.
It is 14:00 in Tehran.
Second, the document as described by the White House and the Prime Minister of Pakistan is not a peace agreement.
It is a 14-point memorandum of understanding that extends the ceasefire for 60 days and may or may not include concessions by both parties, i.e., opening Hormuz in return for releasing frozen assets.
Peace is not agreed to when a ceasefire, which is a temporary stoppage of an armed conflict, remains in effect.
Third, details of any potential concessions conflict significantly between Washington’s and Tehran’s statements.
However, Israeli sources indicate that the deal “weakens Israeli national security” and concedes to multiple Iranian demands – and assessment which is supported by an Iranian draft of the memorandum released this weekend.
The substantive disputes, the nuclear material and weapons development foremost, are deferred to a second and more detailed round of negotiations that has not begun.
The 14-point memorandum of understanding is, therefore, only a procedural step toward a peace settlement rather than the peace settlement itself – the contents of which the White House appears to be closely guarding.
