Overnight on 11 – 12 June 2026 (Russia Day), Ukrainian long-range drones struck the Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNK | Sibur), one of Europe’s largest petrochemical plants, in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, roughly 1,200 km (750 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
The plant produces synthetic rubber, plastics, monomers, and polyesters, and other materials with military applications.
A similar strike hit the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast, which also produces synthetic rubber and related materials.
