The episode opens in Greenwich Village at 80 Washington Place, a stunning 6-bedroom townhouse just steps from Washington Square Park. Once home to composer John Philip Sousa and later the downtown residence of Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner, the property has been reimagined by Cheryl Eisen, founder of Interior Marketing Group and Eisen Design House, as an entertainer’s dream. Spanning over 8,700 square feet with six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, a powder room, and 1,600 square feet of outdoor space, the home balances bold contemporary design with dramatic architecture. A soaring double height great room, a mezzanine overlooking the main living spaces, an expansive south facing terrace with cabanas and an outdoor kitchen, and a full floor primary suite culminate in a private rooftop retreat above the Village.

Next, we head to Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, where designer and developer Carlos Saavedra and his team at The Brooklyn Studio have transformed 487 Henry Street: a 19th century townhouse, through a complete renovation and expansion. A sculptural mahogany staircase rises beneath a skylight, while natural light pours through double height spaces and oversized windows overlooking the garden. Throughout the 5-bedroom home, which spans approximately 6,271 square feet, warm materials and muted tones create an inviting atmosphere. The kitchen draws inspiration from a 130 year old American elm tree in the backyard, pairing walnut, Brazilian quartzite, and garden views. The upper floors include family bedrooms, a serene primary suite with a private terrace, and a rooftop deck with sweeping views stretching from Brooklyn toward Lower Manhattan.

The tour then shifts from contemporary homes to a slice of U.S. history with a visit to Hamilton Grange National Memorial in Harlem. Completed in 1802, it is the only home ever owned by Alexander Hamilton. Guided by National Park Service ranger Craig Swenson, viewers explore the Federal-style residence designed by architect John McComb Jr., where symmetry, proportion, and craftsmanship remain central to the experience. Original architectural details, restored period interiors, reproductions of Hamilton’s desks, family furnishings, and artifacts connected to his life offer a vivid glimpse into the world of one of the nation’s founding figures. Set within St. Nicholas Park, the home stands as both a preserved residence and a living monument to Hamilton’s legacy.

The journey continues to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, inside a loft designed by Koray Duman of Büro Koray Duman. Located within a former shoe factory, the 2,200 square foot residence was transformed into a light filled contemporary home while preserving the building’s industrial character. Exposed columns, wood beams, perforated stainless steel ceilings, and custom millwork establish a dialogue between old and new. Responding to the homeowners’ love of books, Corcoran wrapped the apartment’s perimeter with angled bookshelves that cleverly soften their visual presence while shaping the architecture of the space. Sunlight moves across the open great room, custom kitchen, window seating, and carefully tailored bedroom, creating a home that feels as spacious as it does comfortable and personal.

The tour concludes in Greenwich Village, where interior designer Coco Kanakis unveils her transformation of a Greek Revival townhouse inspired by her clients’ love of art, fashion, and travel. A marble and brass mosaic floor introduces a richly layered interior filled with color, texture, and craftsmanship. Sky blue silk wall coverings, dramatic wallpapers, sculptural lighting, and curated furnishings celebrate both the home’s architectural heritage and its contemporary spirit. The kitchen embraces a restrained palette of black, white, and warm wood tones, while a garden level entertaining space opens seamlessly to the outdoors. Upstairs, a tranquil primary suite with a private terrace and a luxurious bath featuring a fireplace, soaking tub, steam shower, and sauna provide a serene retreat in the heart of the city.

From historic landmarks and landmark townhouses to inventive lofts and thoughtfully reimagined family homes, this episode of NBC’s Open House offers a captivating look at the many ways New Yorkers live, entertain, and find moments of piece within a bustling city.
