Foreign Minister Araghchi says the only way out is fair talks, and if the U.S. goes back to force, Iran will hit back even harder than before.
The problem is that the talks themselves aren’t going anywhere, with Trump turning down Iran’s latest offer and Tehran still weighing Washington’s reply.
On the military side, the U.S. hasn’t struck Iran since September 1, but more American forces keep heading into the region.
For now, both sides are keeping the door open to talks while getting ready in case they fail.

North Korea tested an intermediate-range missile, the kind a former U.S. intelligence analyst says puts Guam, parts of Alaska, and Japan within Pyongyang’s reach.
Hours later, Trump told an Ohio rally he gets along great with Kim, saying it’s better to be on good terms with someone holding that many nukes.
And there’s some logic to it. The same analyst points out North Korea hasn’t launched a long-range ICBM in almost 2 years, and says even a phone call could help keep tensions down.
The hard part is that Kim isn’t picking up, and his growing ties with Russia may be giving him less reason to talk right now.
For now, Trump is keeping the line open and waiting for Kim to call back.

Flávio Bolsonaro may be heading to a runoff with Lula, but his political movement is simultaneously RESHAPING CONGRESS.
Current projections have Bolsonaro’s PL emerging as the largest force in the Senate, potentially reaching around 31 of its 81 seats.
And the broader congressional results point toward another legislature dominated by the right and center-right.
That matters enormously.
Brazil isn’t simply deciding between Bolsonaro and Lula for president. The balance of political power underneath the presidency is moving too.
Whatever happens in the runoff, tonight is already looking like one of the most consequential elections for the Brazilian right in decades.

Malcolm Nance thinks Saudi Arabia is approaching a decision it can no longer avoid.
Either it goes back into Yemen in force, or it accepts that Ansar Allah may soon control the country and, with it, Saudi Arabia’s western oil route.
Taiz is what makes this urgent.
Malcolm says Ansar Allah’s advance threatens to encircle the remaining Saudi-backed forces there. If they collapse, he expects tribes aligned with the PLC to begin cutting deals with the Houthis simply to survive.
“If the Saudis don’t act very soon and very quickly, the Houthis will control all of Yemen.”
And once that happens, he thinks the strategic problem becomes vastly harder to reverse.
Saudi Arabia already faces Iranian pressure on the Persian Gulf side of its energy exports. A Houthi-controlled Yemen would give an Iranian-aligned force enormous leverage over the other route through Bab el-Mandeb.
For Nance, that transforms Yemen from a neighboring civil war into a threat to the economic independence of the Saudi state.
“The nation state of Saudi Arabia now cannot have a national export of its national resources without kissing the Ring of Iran and the Houthis.”
Saudi Arabia would have to stop treating this as another air campaign and mobilize for a real ground war, potentially bringing in Egyptian forces and outside advisers while committing its own armor and troops deep into Yemen.
The Saudis and Emiratis already tried war there once and failed. But Nance thinks the alternative is now worse.
“This is an existential crisis for the economy of Saudi Arabia. Existential.”
Because if Ansar Allah consolidates Yemen, Riyadh may discover that losing the war was only the beginning.
It could lose control over how its own oil reaches the world.
