🇸🇦 🇪🇬 The Houthis can’t be allowed to choke off the Suez Canal, so someone is going to have to act. Saudi pilots are genuinely well trained, according to Ret. U.S. Army Major General Randy Manner, but the planners who coordinate jamming and air-defense suppression behind them aren’t close to American standards, and the kingdom’s leadership won’t move without Washington anyway: “They cannot afford to have them be entrenched and cut off the Suez Canal. So there will be action there.” Iran he expects to cool off slowly, with talks behind closed doors and a victory speech somewhere at the end of it.

Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal)🇸🇦 🇾🇪 Britain is refueling Saudi jets and France is sending air defenses, while Washington still hasn’t joined the fight against the Houthis.

The best version of this operation runs through CENTCOM, with American intelligence and planning behind it. Saudi Arabia could go it alone, and Ret. U.S. Army Major General Randy Manner says it simply lacks the experience to do it well:

“I think we’re letting our partners down by not doing it, because it is in the best interests of the United States.”

His fix is short and surgical, a few days of American-backed strikes that reopen the route for Saudi oil and pull prices down with it.
