🇺🇸 The bond market once made Trump blink: the 10-year just blew past the level that stopped the trade war In April 2025 the 10-year hit about 4.5 percent and the tariffs got paused within days, with Trump saying afterward he had been watching the bond market, and yields came down because the thing spooking them was a policy he could switch off. It closed at 5.24 percent Tuesday, the highest since 2007, with the 30-year at 5.56. Oil is driving it this time, which is why the Fed started hiking two weeks ago and traders now put another increase in October near 70 percent. There is no button for this one, and every week the strait stays shut, American homebuyers pay for it in a rate nobody in

🇺🇸 America’s debt problem is hitting home, literally Surging Treasury yields are pushing 30-year mortgage rates above 7%, right as buyers are already staring down historically expensive homes. Then comes the vicious cycle: roughly $38 trillion in federal debt means higher yields make Washington’s borrowing more expensive, while costly credit squeezes homebuyers and makes it harder for builders to add new supply. They cite estimates that the U.S. needs around 3.3% annual GDP growth to stabilize debt near 100% of GDP. Recent growth? Roughly 2.1%. The result? An ugly feedback loop: expensive federal debt, expensive mortgages, tougher financing for builders and fewer affordable homes for young
